Beyond The Canvas (BTC) was founded by Tomas Vasquez, local art and music event organizer, in 2010 and has tripled in size and together we made several accomplishments over the past seven years.

Over the years we have been featured Art Group at the AT&T Center for RiverCity RockFest from 2013 thru 2017 & the Alamo City Comic Con, which is held at the Henry B Gonzalez CC.   We’ve partnered with brands such as Jaguar, the San Antonio Zoo, Lone Star Beer, American Airlines & Marriott Hotels.  We are currently working with the Believe It Foundation Non-Profit Organization.  We hope to bring more awareness to their cause. “Their purpose is to enrich the lives of physically challenged children through the inclusion of those children in the lives and experiences of those who do not face the same limitations.”

Our artists have learned skills from Master Body Painters Mark Reid and Nick Wolfe, whom have conducted art classes for our artist here in San Antonio, as they do throughout the world.  Our artist (some who compete at the national and international levels) set up a few art workshops for the community throughout the year, these workshops are open to the public, at no cost.

Beyond The Canvas has toured & represented San Antonio in New Orleans, New York, South Carolina and Georgia in art competitions and art skill exhibits.   Some of our national artist sponsors include Skin Wars artists Brittney Pelloquin, Rick Enks Uribe and Angela Rene Roberts.

We host an annual fine art body painting competition, whereas BTC awards over $1,000 in cash prizes and trophies. Many art competitors are from Texas cities and surrounding states.

We are sponsored by the Avenida Guadalupe Association which is located on the Westside of San Antonio.  “The Avenida Guadalupe Association is a Community Development Corporation that for more than 30 years has been committed to it’s neighborhood, tirelessly fortifying the Guadalupe Street commercial corridor, building affordable senior communities, offering housing counseling and financial education programs to underserved populations, and honoring the roots of San Antonio’s Mexican-American Cultural Heritage.”

Beyond The Canvas Mission Statement
